Thais Pacheco: From grade III chondromalacia and two ruptures to mobility activist
Physical education teacher Thais Pacheco is passionate about movement. Today, she is a mobility activist: she advocates for more and more people to have free bodies, without constraints, pain and limitations.
Thais wasn't passionate about mobility at the beginning of her career. Having recently graduated as a physical educator, she taught stretching classes, with machines and everything as per the rules, but nothing that really touched the São Paulo native's sense of purpose.
This continued until grade III chondromalacia appeared, which imposed his first limitation of movement. In 2014, his case worsened: a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament occurred and further impaired his mobility.
After her first surgery, the doctor stressed that Thais could not squat more than 90%. Otherwise, there was a possibility of developing early osteoarthritis.
From then on, the pain got worse every day. With courage, Thais decided to go further and find a solution. This was her first contact with mobility as an area of study. Immersing herself in the international literature on the subject, Thais studied functional training and stuck to her study routine.
Then in 2017, the same ligament ruptured and a new surgery was performed. For many, this would be the end. For Thais, it was not.
At home, the educator continued her studies remotely with a physical education teacher from the United States, and a year later her passion for movement was born. The study routine remains unwavering to this day, and today Thais shares the knowledge that saved her life with more people.
With three Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) certifications in the United States, Thais believes in freedom for the body and feet. That's why her story is connected to the barefoot movement, becoming an ambassador for Feet of Tomorrow. The FOT Team thanks you!
